I built a couple of block themes from the ground up. Using tuts from Elliot Richmond and Adam Lowe. It took me a lot of time, but I did it. Now I prefer to use a current block theme, like 2024, and adapt it to my own requirements using the json file and adding my own css.

Wow this plugin is sick! We have a client that we use a separate plugin for the external page links. It's so we can have a filterable post section for articles that are talking about the client. So it's useful in those situations because you can have your own image, title, and description but then when someone clicks it just takes them directly to the external URL

It might temporarily improve SEO but only because Google (for the time being) is emphasising TOC in it's algorithm. The issue is that many spam LLM generated websites predominantly use TOCs. I can almost instantly recognise LLM generated spam websites from the fact that they have a TOC and the style of writing in the first paragraph. It's only a matter of time before people get annoyed and do what I do and almost instantly back out of a page that has a TOC assuming it's yet another spam website. ONLY use TOC if it's actually useful to users. GOOD UX and UI design is actually functional and actually useful, not just cheating search algorithms for SEO!

Very interesting video and what a clever use of core blocks with a little custom CSS and JS. But I agree with @gianbattistamaricosu that the navigation block is one of the weakest if not the weakest aspects of the Editor. I hope that the WP team spend more time looking at Wix and Webflow, seeing where WP needs to be at for FSE. For all but the simplest of clients a custom old school menu as a block is required.

I love the Synced Patterns Overrides feature; however, it seems to lack an important functionality - the ability to apply Overrides to nested patterns. For example: I create a Synced Pattern consisting of a Heading and a Paragraph (with override capability), but next I want to create a Synced Pattern composed of three of the previously created patterns. The goal is to allow for text content changes while maintaining consistency in spacing between blocks, padding, etc. Currently, the original Synced Pattern loses its override capability when embedded in a new Synced Pattern. Possibility to enable override functionality for nested patterns would be a great extension of the Synced Pattern Overrides feature, significantly simplifying the creation of consistent layouts across the entire site. What do you think about it?

Hi, I created a custom block using one of the core blocks. Added few extra lines of code generated from ChatGPT. I am no developer. However, the plugin folder is huge around 250mb. the zip file is itself around 70mb. I created the custom block locally on WP Studio and VS Code. How do I export the plugin to be installable but not be so huge in mb?

When I watched your previous video about Transparent background with Twenty Twenty Four Theme, I choose to go with CSS way to do it but when I check the responsiveness it was breaking so added additional CSS.

I want to be able to use a certain Hero image for desktop, then a different one for tablet and phone. But this isn't possible using the block theme.

Looked promising but I tried it and it's not very good. Its background won't go 100vh and leaves unsightly gaps at top and bottom. You can't really control enough to make it usable. Any block or plug in is only as good as it is on mobile. If it can't be good on both desktop and mobile then it's an instant delete.

This looks very nice and great for SEO. Is there something similar that does not require Gutenberg. I just cannot get to terms with it. I never use it. It's the first I switch off on a new website I do.

Imagine the automatic refresh works by adding new items to the TOC if you add a new title and section on the page(?). Some people may not want it to do that so ability to turn on/off is 👌

Why would you want to remove the admin bar though

I've had a lot of bad experiences with hosting companies. Taking money, when i've cancelled services or continuous billing. Now I use a free host, where I don't pay them any money, so they can't take my money without permission. I only use it for testing, and I also have two home servers for testing as well.
